Dr. Daniel Rolph shares the Rolph family legend of a creature seen in Fleming County, KY in 1903 called the “Red Eyed Monster.” The siting occurred the same night a mob pulled an accused murderer from jail and killed him.
The Red Eyed Monster was purportedly seen by others in the family at different times.
A more detailed account is given in Rolph’s book “To Shoot, Burn, and Hang: Folk History from a Kentucky Mountain Family and Community.”
In the beginning of the episode, Rolph offers general guidance on the historical and folkloric methods of compiling family stories.
In the next and last episode of the Ghost Stories series, they will discuss faith and the paranormal.
